Labour Hire Licensing

Are you using a licensed labour hire agency?

Labour hire agencies now have to be licensed to prevent the exploitation of workers. Businesses who engage unlicensed agencies can be fined up to $500,000.

Best Match Recruitment is a licensed labour hire agency, trading under GBS Recruitment PTY Ltd, having undergone a rigorous approval process. Our licence number is: VICLHL01242 and details can be viewed here. There is no change to the way we do business as we were deemed to already be adhering to the highest standard of service and best practice but, as an employer, it is your responsibility to ensure you are only engaging agencies that have been licensed or you could face financial penalties.

The Labour Hire Authority is responsible for implementing the Labour Hire Licensing Act 2018. The Act introduced a licensing scheme for providers of labour hire across all industry sectors. The scheme was established in response to the Victorian Inquiry into the Labour Hire Industry and Insecure Work, which uncovered widespread abuse and exploitation of labour hire workers across Victoria.

The key elements of the licensing scheme are as follows:

The Labour Hire Authority is responsible for licensing labour hire providers and undertaking education, enforcement and compliance activity. Workers will be protected against exploitation from unlicensed labour hire providers and host employers not engaging licensed providers.

The scheme seeks to achieve a level playing field, such that reputable labour providers do not face unfair competition from unscrupulous operators, and labour hire workers are not subject to exploitation. Although it is you, the employer, who makes the final decision about the candidate you hire, to reassure you of our commitment to service, a replacement guarantee is offered to all permanent placements.

If, within the probationary 3 month period, you are not satisfied with an applicant provided to you by Best Match Recruitment then we will replace that candidate free of charge.*
